Planning

How far ahead should you book a mover?

We recommend 4–6 weeks, especially over summer and at month-end when settlement dates cluster. Here's how to work backwards from your settlement date — and what to do if you've left it late.

Costs

What actually drives the cost of a move

We charge based on the time it takes, from when the truck arrives to when we finish unloading, plus a small call-out fee. Access, stairs, packing and distance are the four things that move the number.

Packing

Pack it yourself, or hire the pros?

Packing yourself saves money. But if you're short on time or have fragile or valuable items, a professional pack usually pays for itself in breakages avoided and hours saved.

Booking & pricing

What service do you offer?

We provide simple essential to full-service moving, including packing, unpacking, furniture disassembly and reassembly, and even short-term storage.

How far in advance should I book my move?

We recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks ahead, especially in busy months. But don't worry — we have plenty of teams and vehicles to accommodate last-minute moves too.

How much will it cost to move?

We charge based on the time it takes to move, from when our truck arrives to when we finish unloading. There's also a small call-out fee, but no hidden costs.

Are there any hidden fees I should be aware of?

We provide a full quote upfront, so you'll know exactly what you're paying for.

Can I change my moving date?

Let us know as soon as possible and we'll try to accommodate you. There may be a rescheduling fee if the change is last minute.

How long will my move take?

It depends on the size of your home and the distance. We can give you an estimate based on your move's details.

Do you also do office moves?

Yes. We handle office, warehouse and business moves. We have a large team across Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga, and a partner network across other New Zealand cities.

Packing & preparation

Do you pack and move?

Yes. We offer packing services. You can either get packing materials from us and pack yourself, or our team can handle everything, including packing, loading and unloading in one go.

Should I pack myself or hire movers?

Packing yourself can save money, but if you're short on time or have fragile or valuable items, our professional pack and move team can pack them safely for you.

What should I prepare for moving day?

Pack your belongings in advance, label boxes by room, and keep important items — like toiletries or essentials for the first night — handy.

Do I need to disassemble furniture before the move?

Our team will take care of disassembling any large furniture that doesn't fit through doors. If you prefer to do it yourself, just let us know.

Should I empty my drawers?

It's not necessary to empty drawers, but they're heavy — it's best to lighten the load or pack the contents in boxes.

When should I empty the fridge?

We'll load the fridge last so it comes off first, and you can plug it back in at your new home right away.

Can the moving company help with unpacking as well?

Yes, we offer unpacking services to help you settle into your new home. Our team will unpack your boxes and set up your furniture for you — just let us know.

What we can and can't move

What can't you move?

We can't move hazardous materials (like paints or flammable liquids), illegal items, live plants, or perishable food.

How do I move fragile or valuable items?

For delicate items we recommend our packing services. If you have extremely valuable things, consider transporting them separately and let us know when booking.

What's the best way to move pets and plants?

Keep pets in their carriers with you. For plants, it's best to transport them in your car to keep them safe — otherwise have the bases in boxes to keep them stable.

What if my new lounge suite won't fit through the door?

Let us know in advance and we can explore options like lifting it over a balcony, following safety guidelines.

On the day

Do I need to be at the pickup location?

No problem if you can't be there. Just let us know what's staying behind and we'll handle the rest. A quick check before the movers depart ensures everything is sorted.

What happens if the moving company arrives late or early?

We'll notify you if there are any delays. Our goal is to stay on schedule and minimise any disruption to your day.

If the settlement for both properties is the same day, how do we manage that?

Let us know at the time of booking and we'll recommend best practice and things you need to consider.

How can we make sure everything goes to the right rooms at delivery?

To make things easier, clearly label all your boxes with a marker (e.g. B1 for bedroom 1). It also helps to provide a floor plan of your new home.

Can I track the moving truck during transit?

Yes. We offer GPS tracking for long-distance moves so you can keep an eye on your belongings' progress, and we'll keep you updated throughout the move.

What other information do I need to provide you?

Please provide as much information as possible about access to both your current and new residences — things like parking, driveway access, overhanging trees or wires, and roof height.

Insurance & damage

Are my belongings insured?

Our trucks are covered by public liability insurance for property damage. We recommend checking with your insurer for coverage on your belongings, or we can provide moving insurance if needed.

What if something is damaged during the move?

If any damage occurs, we'll help you file a claim. We take great care, but in the rare case something goes wrong, we're here to assist.

Long distance & admin

How do I prepare for a long-distance or inter-city move?

Start planning early. We'll create a customised plan for your move, and we suggest keeping a list of important items to bring with you during the move.

How do I update my address with utilities, banks and other services?

We recommend updating your address with utility companies, your bank and other important services at least two weeks before your move.

What's the best way to manage stress during a move?

Moving can be stressful, but we're here to make it as easy as possible on the day. The more organised you are beforehand, the smoother it will go.
